Dr. Danielle Maxwell

 

Danielle Maxwell, Ph.D. (she/ella) is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Detroit Mercy. Prior to becoming a faculty member, she earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry, M.S. in Chemistry, and M.S. in Educational Studies from the University of Michigan and a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Detroit Mercy. Dr. Maxwell’s research interests are centered around the science identity development of racially minoritized undergraduate students and transforming undergraduate chemistry curricula to be more justice-oriented and culturally relevant. As a Latina, one of her more recent projects explored how Latine undergraduate students at Hispanic-Serving Institutions in the southwestern United States navigate epistemological border crossing in the development of their science identities.
